The East Davenport Development Corporation — which assists with rehabilitations and infill development in areas south of Locust Street and east of Main Street — has $225,000 it’s willing to use to help move the home at 2101 Main St., said corporation spokesman Jannette Higginson.

In addition, Neighborhood Housing Services stepped up to temporarily take possession of the house while it is moved and help find a suitable site for the home.

An ad hoc group – calling itself Friends of the Henry Deutsch House — met in City Hall on Thursday, March 6, 2008 for about an hour to discuss strategy regarding taking possession of the nearly century-old house from St. Paul.

“Our main goal is to figure out a method to save this house,” Bill Boone, 3rd Ward said. “Secondarily, we want to send a message to the residents of Davenport that historic preservation is important
